Happy Birthday to me! My dad always comes through on home appliances 🙂 My new, much appreciated food processor…

My mom and Keeley are visiting. We’ve been doing lots of school shopping – Keeley’s favorite. I also took her to see Orphan, a not-my-type of movie that she was dying to see. We went to the Children’s Museum of Indianapolis on Saturday. I was very excited to see circa 1960 Lamp Chop, Hush Puppy, and Charlie Horse puppets!

And of course, no trip to the museum is complete without a ride on the carousel.

And books…

booksCommencement by J. Courntey Sullivan follows the aftermath of four girls’ graduation from Smith College. This book has it all – confused sexuality, kidnapping, manipulation, marriage, and a baby! Seriously though, it is a fun book, but it does grapple with serious issues. Don’t dismiss this one as chick lit.

Backcountry Betty Crafting with Style: 50 Nature-Inspired Crafts has a cute idea for using take out menus to make “Greasy Spoon Placemates.” Doesn’t have any color photographs, which I quite like in craft books (and cookbooks).

Oh I almost forgot – blueberry buckle. Recipe from American Classics (Cook’s Illustrated magazine, 2009). Yum!
