I finally feel like we’re moved in enough I can commit some time to my crafty pursuits. Yesterday I found this lovely book at Border’s for $4.99! suss cousins home knits

I love handknits for the home as many of you well know (see YarnPlay at Home). Using yarns from her company, Cousins has designed 30 patterns. I’ve seen variations on many of the patterns in other books, but I think her take on them is unique. She uses  different textured yarns to create really stunning pieces.

runner, vase, napkin ringYou can see the “Crystal Table Runner” knitted with an aqua angora and finished with Austrian crystal beads and the “Embroidered Vase Cover” which appears super simple, but very cute.  On the left-hand page, you may be able to make out the “Napkin Holder with Button” knitted with Ultrasuede (something I’ve never used before) and the “Beaded Placemats”.

lampshadeCousins has a couple of lampshade projects, but I like the striped nature of this one. What an easy way to change the look of a lamp. Lampshade cozy, if you will!

Speaking of covering lampshades, I also discovered Wallpaper Projects: 50 Craft and Design Ideas for Your Home, from Accents to Art at Border’s. There is, of course, a plan for covering a lampshade and other cute ideas – headboard cover, window shades, art pieces, stair detail, etc.

And a peek at my work in progress…matryoshka

Happy Wednesday! We’re going to see the Indianapolis Indians play this afternoon with our banker!?!
